MeetLee.
Deep in the bowels of Wildveld Zoo, tucked between the pelican pond and the reptile house, lived a small macaque who went by one name: Lee. The keepers called him "trouble." The visitors called him "that monkey who stole my sunglasses." But those who really watched him knew he was something else entirely.
Every morning, Lee would sit at the corner of his enclosure, staring at the planes that cut silver lines across the sky โ jets, roaring overhead, bound for somewhere beyond. The other monkeys played. Lee planned.
On the morning of March 14th, 2024, during a routine keeper inspection, Lee vanished. The cage was locked. The cameras caught nothing. Just an empty branch, a half-eaten banana, and a smudge on the observation glass that, some said, looked like a tiny rocket ship.
No one knows how he got out. Theories range from a maintenance gap in the fencing, to an elaborate distraction involving the flamingos. What the world does know is that Lee resurfaced days later โ not at a neighboring zoo, not in the local forest โ but in the blockchain.
